Machining operations: feet in the water!

Machining work on a lock gate during flooding

In January 2025, our machining technicians — more accustomed to working in industrial environments — had the opportunity to take part in a project right in the heart of the historic town of Redon, in Ille-et-Vilaine.

The resurfacing of two rings on the lock gate was part of a major refurbishment project for the movable bridge at the Bateliers lock. Equipment installation went smoothly, but the team was caught off guard by the rapid flooding of the Vilaine River.

The work was completed on time — although with their feet in the water. A minor inconvenience compared to the hundreds of people evacuated and the homes flooded across the region during this exceptional flood event.
